sweeter things.

I haven’t blogged since March!  But I do have a sudden urge to pen down some thoughts I have right now…

First being; a new song I wrote!  It’s definitely different to the stuff I’ve written in the past.  I would call it more of a hymn, and a song of devotion to the One I love.

My Devotion

temporary, is the world and all it has to offer me

my heart is set on sweeter things that will last into eternity

I will seek you in the morning

you greet me like the warmth of the sun

my soul will bring an offering

to the One who calls me dear

better than jewels or the crowns of kings,

is one moment spent with Him.

my hiding place, my treasured keep

my solitary time with you

is my devotion, and my delight

my beloved is forever mine

and I will seek you in the morning

you greet me like the warmth of the sun

you still my anxious heart completely

with a peace that overwhelms my soul

my soul will bring an offering to the One who calls me dear

better than jewels or the crowns of kings

is one moment spent with Him .

I just got back from a funeral of an aunt in Malaysia.  This song kept recurring in my head the past few days, as I am reminded of the frailty and could I say ‘temporary-ness’ of being human.  We sow our lives into what we believe is most important, yet when we are called home, we take nothing with us but only the goodness we’ve sowed into the lives of others.  Death is a great reminder of what is most important in life.

Aunt Joyce lived a life of generously sowing into the lives of others, with no motive, no restraint.  I wish to live like this, with no other intention but to love others, to build and sow into another’s life and wanting absolutely nothing in return.
